Over the weekend just gone Gill and I spent over half a day putting together my food for my upcoming Tasmanian Trail journey. The images attached to this post show the result – 21.5 days of food, the majority full days, and two resupply boxes to post ahead and pick up on trail as I go. I would have preferred to just have one resupply box but it made sense to lighten my load and for the sake of one additional express postage charge of $53, that was a price I was willing to pay. I was very pleasantly surprised at the postage charges as in 2018 my resupply boxes to WA cost $150 to post. What a difference a bit of distance and a few years makes as parcel postage has become more efficient and cheaper.
Over the past six years I have worked out what I like in regard to food and what I don’t like. I just find that If I try to make do with my food choices, I wont eat it. My food tastes are pretty specific so I prefer to post resupply boxes ahead complete with everything that I like. Each of the 21.5 days sits within a large ziplock bag; a number of which I’ve used in thru hikes over the past three years.
