2022 Great Ocean Walk

Day -14 Logistics underway

In two weeks Gill and I will be starting our walk on the Great Ocean Walk in Victoria. To date I’ve booked our tent accomodation which has required us to determine how far we are travelling each day. While this trip is suggested for a more leisurely eight day pace, we are both comfortable doing 20+ km per day so have opted for a faster six day trip which fits in with the time we have available. While the opportunity exists on this trail to stay at guest houses along the way we have opted to make this a full camping trip but who knows, we may change our minds along the way.

We have also sorted most of our food and next week we will assemble it all and do a final pack to make sure we have everything we need. While I have a couple of dozen meals at home, courtesy of the past two years of limited camping, I was short two person meal options and I found myself one meal short. I placed my order for that today and at the same time decided it was time to upgrade a few pieces of our kit so when you see our trip photos we will definitely look a bit different than we have for the past few years. Later today I will sort the final logistics including booking accomodation for the night before and for when we finish our trip.

We’re both big fans of coastal walks and are really looking forward to this trip. and are thankful we’re not starting over the next week with on-again off-again rain forecast for almost every day. Mind you, we don’t know what the weather forecast in two weeks time will bring so our fingers are crossed!
