ROCKBROS Bike Phone Front Frame Bicycle Bag Review

This bag sits on the top crossbar of your bike and its main purpose is to house your smartphone and allow access to it while on your bike regardless of the weather. In my case, this is just what I wanted to use it for including accessing various trail apps without having to take my phone out of my pocket or a protective cover.

The base of this case is a hard carbon material so it has a degree of rigidity and the top casing which houses the phone, is a flexible material. The opening has a double zip and to access your phone you really need to unzip fully. The casing comes with three zelcro straps that attach the casing to your bike; one for around the handlebar column and two for the crossbar to hold it in place. These straps need to be trimmed to suit once you know the sizing.

Something I’ve yet to use with this small bag is the tiny little rain cover that comes as part of the purchase. This cover pulls down over the top of the bag covering the zip which is the only potential access point for water.

In addition to my iPhone going into the dedicated phone sleeve, I also managed to fit a fair number of other bits and pieces into the main case below the phone sleeve including:

• Compact camera
• Battery pack and cabling
• Case rain cover
• Headlamp
• Hand sanitiser

I’ve never been a fan of this type of protective cover in the past as I’ve never found them to be very sensitive to the touch but in this case the plastic shield worked really well and my phone could be accessed with both the facial recognition system as well as touch through the plastic shield.

From my perspective the only negative about this bag is that I’m not as flexible as I used to be and on occasion, I struggled to get my leg over the top without catching on my leg. I eventually worked out that I needed to lean the bike over further than I normality would to make it work.

The bag retails for AUD $36.99 RRP and is the cheapest of my purchases for my bikepacking kit. This bag is only one of two that is likely to live on my bike permanently providing a handy little storage unit for small things like keys and my wallet whereas the other bags will only be attached to my bike when I need them.

We Like

• For such as small bag it will hold all your little bits and pieces
• Sensitive touch screen that actually lets you see and use the screen on your smart phone but at the same time keep it protected from the elements
• Suits most standard smart phones
• Durable hard shell construction
• Double zipper allows you to open the top right up
• Water resistant and also comes with its own little rain cover
• Easy to connect to your bike frame

We Don't Like

• This little bag can make it difficult to get on and off the bike at times when you’re a bit tired
• The built-in sun visor is of limited use on bright sunny days

Best Uses

• A great option for storing electronics and smaller valuables. Alternatively a good storage compartment for bike tools
