I am always on the look out for well made, comfortable and versatile hiking gear. These Wilderness Wear Merino Mid 195 Women’s Leggings are all that. Made from 100% Australian superfine merino wool, these leggings are ideal for relaxing at the campsite, sleeping through the night or wearing under your hiking pants when the weather is cold.
I wore these leggings while hiking the Hume and Hovell Track and really liked them. They are comfortable, very soft and flexible. I generally slept in these leggings and was very warm on nights when the temperature was very chilly.
The leggings have a reinforced gusset and double sewn flat seams which provide extra seam strength. The fit is slim but the leggings also have an elasticised waist which ensure they don’t slip unlike other leggings. I wore a size 10 and found the calves to be a wee bit skinny for me but then I tend to have bigger calves than others!
Wilderness Wear suggests you can also wear them for a range of outdoor and sporting activities. Even though I am usually wearing active wear when I’m not working, I have a rule – if you can see through the garment when you hold it up to the light, then they are not outer wear! As such, I wouldn’t wear these leggings in ‘public’. Others may feel okay doing but not me!
Actually I have lots of clothing rules including:
- Tights are not pants – yes really, and
- If you can see your underwear, you need to add a layer!
These leggings are available in sizes 8 to 16 and come in Black.
