For me this was the third pair of Goodr Sunglasses I have worn and as much as I loved the quirky names and the appearance of this range I found that the sizing is on the smaller side. Even the pair of BFGS which was supposed to be for wide faces let too much glare in through the sides because of the flat profile. While Goodr has wrap around glasses I just didn’t like the appearance so only really wore by pairs as spares.
Enter the latest models from Goodr, the Bug and the Bolt which have been designed with a curved profile. Gill has tested out the Bug model which is suited to smaller faces and I tested the Bolt model which sits at the broader end of the range.
The Goodr Bolt G Sunglasses are very similar to the existing Goodr Wrap G model with the main difference being that while the Wrap G’s are a fully framed set of glasses, the Goodr Bolt G’s only has the frame on top. I hate the look of the Wrap version because of the full frame as they look a bit like ski goggles so I was really happy when the Bolt G came to the market without the bottom section of framing.
The Goodr Bolt G is one of those pairs of sunglasses that that is definitely polarising (accidental pun) for a number of reasons. First up I personally love the look of these glasses having a single lens across the front of the brow with no gap apart from the nose bridge. Speaking of the nose bridge the nose pads are adjustable so you can get the perfect adjustment both on the nose and also adjust the distance from the face.
The first thing you need to know about Goodr is that as a company they are best described as ‘quirky’. My colour choice which is the cover image for this post is called Do it for the Victory Dance and the model of sunglasses between the style and the colours are definitely ‘out there’.
Construction is the same as the rest of the Goodr range with a plastic frame and polycarbonate lens which means they are very lightweight with this pair coming in at 25 grams. This makes for a very sleek looking set of sunglasses but with that without the bottom ridged frame, you definitely need to handle these sunglasses with care. They aren’t the sort of glasses that you can be rough with.
One other feature with this new model is is that the arms having positive folding action which means that when you close the arms they ‘lock’ closed – if you like to slip the arm down your t shirt they will stay in place. It also means they will sit better on your forehead if that’s your thing – this is a nice little feature that I didn’t know that I needed!
Price wise these sunglasses sit around AUD $79.00 RRP (with Goodr also producing cheaper models) which is relatively cheap as sunglasses go, particularly for such a fashion focused sunglass. While they aren’t likely to be as durable as a glass lens, at this price they won’t break the bank. In fact for such a good looking and quirky range of sunglasses, these are great value.
All Goodr sunglasses are polarized with the lenses coming in smoked lenses as well as a mirrored finishes and given the sheer range, there is something for everyone.
So for those hikers out there with average to larger sized heads who also want to make a bit of a fashion statement, this sunglass model is a great option. In my case this model has become my go-to set of sunglasses.
