Cygnett PowerPlus 32W USB-C Wall Charger Review
If you are going on a hike longer than about 1-2 weeks and are carrying electronic equipment with you then you will need to access a recharge powerpoint at some stage.
On my five week Bibbulmun Track hike I was carrying a fair amount of electronics because of my blogging with my longest section without power being 8 days. As soon as I hit my motel and dropped my pack off I started to charge all my electronic gear. Rather than take my larger and heavier wall charging units from home I wanted something robust, compact, and lightweight, that I was also able to charge two devices at once (Sometimes you only have access to a a single powerpoint for short periods such as lunch breaks). To this end I opted for the Cygnett PowerPlus 32W USB-C Wall Charger. This has now been replaced with a newer model that has 1 X USB-A connector and 1 x USB-C connector which is the way the road is heading.
This unit works in Australia and New Zealand, having a specific plug type and while you could use it overseas you will need an adaptor which will greatly increase the weight. When I travel overseas I opt for a country specific unit unless I’m travelling widely across areas that require a constant change in plug types where I will then use a multi country adaptor.
As I said most hikers may not need to use this but if you are into multi week, long distance hiking then it will find a firm place in your pack.
