The Sea to Summit Tree Straps are a very specific product designed to be used with the Sea to Summit Hammock range including the Jungle Hammock and the Sea to Summit Hammock Pro Double. In the case of the Sea to Summit Hammocks, the straps that come with the hammock kits are quite narrow and while they help to reduce the weight these narrow straps can cut into trees that have softer bark.
As the name very clearly states the Sea to Summit Tree Straps are designed to help protect your chosen hang trees better than the narrower hammock straps by spreading the weight across the much wider, robust, 38 mm strapping.
These straps are designed to suit the Sea to Summit range and while that’s a bonus if that’s your chosen hammock system as this makes for a very easy set up. However the reverse of this is that you are locked into this system because most of the main pieces of the kits are unlikely to mix and match with different brands.
Overall I’m a fan of the Sea to Summit Hammock range as pieces are designed around a kit which makes it very easy to assemble and doesn’t require you to work out what you need. These tree protector straps are best considered an essential item and at AUD $34.99 RRP they aren’t going to break the bank but will greatly minimise your impact on the environment.
