Sea to Summit Frontier Short Handled Spork Review

We’ve been using Sea to Summit utensils on and off over the past 12 years and this current generation continues to improve. The original generations of utensils had a grainy feel to them which made it hard to lick them clean and while only a minor issue I preferred to opt for other polished options. This current generation has a very smooth coating and while it looks very similar as soon as you touch it and eat with it has feels so much better.

This Sea to Summit Frontier Short Handled Spork is all about travelling light. Weighing in at 7 grams this anodised aluminium is about as light as you get and while that comes from the material used most of this is because of the short length of this utensil coming in at 13cm in length. Now my hands are larger than that and combined with eating out of a meal bags my hands get very close to the food and I just find it a bit messy.

Price wise the Sea to Summit Frontier Short Handled Spork comes in at AUD $14.99 RRP which is about average for a metal eating utensil and provided you aren’t using this a a tool, or you lose it, you are likely to have this for many years.

As someone who has large hands and prefers to eat straight out of a freeze dried meal bag this eating utensil isn’t going to be for me. Having said that if you prefer to eat from a bowl or cup and who has average sized hands and also want to use an extremely lightweight eating utensil to do it, then this well be may be a viable option for you.

We Like

• At 7 grams this is a very lightweight metal spork
• Robust construction
• The size of this spork takes up very little room so its deal for the ultra-lighters who want to lighten their load and increase their enjoyment on the trail

We Don't Like

• As the owner of a large male pair of hands this spork while usable gets my hands way to close to my food

Best Uses

• Ultralight backpacking
• People with smaller hands will love this spork
