Many hikers will often default to a spork or a full set of cutlery and if you are going to be cutting up food, a spork often doesn’t quite cut it, pardon the pun.
The Sea to Summit Frontier Cutlery Set is made from hard-anodised aircraft-grade aluminium and strangely enough when compared to the Sea to Summit Passage Cutlery Set which is made from a plastic material, there is only 2 grams difference in the weight. Where the Frontier Cutlery Set comes out ahead is the strength and durability of a metal set has ensuring it will be much more durable and long lasting.
Price wise the Sea to Summit Frontier Cutlery Set sells for AUD $39.99 RRP but given the durability of this set it will last for many years and for a set of three implements, the set works out to be reasonably priced.
I’ve used Sea to Summit cutlery over the years and the original versions had a rough feel to them however the Sea to Summit Frontier Cutlery Set is much smoother when eating.
So is this cutlery set going to be one I use? I have fairly large male hands and will often eat my freeze dried meals direct from the bag so will typically use a long handled spoon or long handled spork which keeps my hands away from the food, but for hikers and campers who prepare meals on-trail and eat from plates or bowls, this set of cutlery will serve them well.
