Now for something out of the ordinary, the Detour stainless-steel chopsticks from Australian company Sea to Summit. I have spent a lot of time overseas and am very comfortable with using chopsticks as eating utensils but not everyone is. The thing you need to keep in mind is that Sea to Summit while being an Australian company pretty much sells its products worldwide and there are a large number of people who don’t use western cutlery. In fact, metal chopsticks are often associated with Korea, both north and south.
Being metal, in this case high grade stainless steel, they are easy to keep clean and are almost impossible to damage or destroy, which is probably why Sea to Summit offers a lifetime warranty. These chopsticks come with a silicone rubber keeper that in addition to helping to keep them together in your pack or car also doubles as stand keeping them off your eating surface (think animal dung on the rock you are eating your meal on).
As chopsticks go these are comfortable to use and hold the food well. If I’m honest these were the ones I chose to purchase so all things being equal they suited my needs. For me the only real negative is the weight coming in at around 77 grams. You can find chopsticks around a third of the weight but they also come with a price premium around twice the price so this is where you need to prioritise weight or price.
While these eating utensils won’t be for everyone, they are worth considering by those of you who are after a set of chopsticks for outdoor adventures.
