Actionsports Anchor The Wristy 23cm Tether Review
When using my phone or cameras I don’t worry too much about having wrists straps as I walk around town but as soon as head out-bush I add a wrist strap to both of these pieces of electronics for piece of mind. I’m old school in how I take my photos preferring a high end compact camera, at least for the moment. But when I take videos I prefer to use my phone.
Just before I tested out this wrist strap I took a video in the early morning at a lookout and realised I had a ‘death grip’ on my phone just in case I dropped it – it was just habit. How much easier would this have been if I had attached this wrist strap?
While the camera I use tend to come with wrist straps they tend to be a bit old school and by that I mean they are typically black and fixed. While they do the job, the Actionsports Anchor The Wristy 23cm Tether has some nice features that takes wrist straps to the next level. Firstly, there is a wide range of colour choices and while that seems to be a cosmetic thing, you need to realise that this product has come out of the snow industry and having bright, vibrant colours means they stand out. Secondly, the chord is an elasticised bungy material which means that when you put it on your wrist you can cinch it up so it stays on your wrist without being uncomfortable. Third and final, this wrist strap comes in two components:
- A universal attachment lanyard that you can interchange across the range which allows to change or totally remove the wrist lanyard as you see fit whether its to change the colour or to just remove the tether if you aren’t using it.
- A tether strap so it is secure.
Price wise this unit sells for AUD $19.99 RRP which is quite well priced for an Australian made product that is typically helping to protect a phone or camera – items that aren’t a cheap purchase.
I wear Kuhl Radikl Pants when I hike and my camera and phone both fit into a leg pockets (two pockets – one each side) which allows me to access them reasonably quickly. By using these wrist straps they are easy to pull out and if need to, be locked on to my wrist for protection.
This is a great product and one that will make an appearance on both my camera and phone on all my out-of-town hikes.
