Real Meals Boysenberry Yoghurt Review
Yoghurt as a freeze dried meal is a rarity in Australia and as part of this review I looked at online options and it was a bit of a struggle. As far as the outdoor industry goes, available yoghurts either come with muesli or else a component of curry based meals. In both cases the yoghurt is plain and reasonably bland. This is where the Real Meals Boysenberry Yoghurt comes in.
Without a doubt this is the best freeze dried yoghurt I’ve come across and it’s a good yoghurt in general. This is as advertised as boysenberry yogurt and that’s exactly what it tastes like. Where this is different from commercial yoghurts is that it’s a bit lower in sugar, whereas a lot of commercial yoghurts are much sweeter.
As far as preparation goes this is another meal that relies on adding cold water, in this case 250 ml, which was spot on as far as yoghurt consistency goes. This meal once water is added weighs 350 grams but given the rehydrated product contains 435 calories and 17.8 grams of protein that isn’t bad.
At AUD $21.99 RRP the Real Meals Boysenberry Yoghurt is definitely at the higher end of the price scale of the single serve freeze dried range but I was surprised when I ventured beyond the outdoor industry ranges and came across smaller serves selling for higher prices.
This is going to be one of those meals that people are going to love or hate. In my case, while this is a good yoghurt but it is just not my thing.
