Real Meals Tropical Pudding Review
The Real Meals Tropical Pudding is the first dessert we have tried from the range and at the time of this review, there were three options. Don’t ask me why I picked this particular one, it was purely random but is definitely a winner and I’m looking forward to trying out the remaining two options, the Real Meals Chocolate Cake Pudding and the Real Meals Apples and Creamed Rice.
Taste test wise here’s how it went:

As the packet says this is a sago-based tropical pudding. I can taste the sago, the coconut and the pineapple. The mango is there but not as obvious and in my case the ‘zesty lime’ flavour is non existent. Texture wise this dessert is smooth and creamy and really does warm you up. This is a sweet dessert and one that I’m looking forward to on those colder nights.

Tasty, very sweet, possibly to0 sweet for me although it may be something I would appreciate sharing on a cold night after a long day of hiking. Unlike Tim I can taste the zesty lime flavour as well as all the other flavours but they are more balanced on my palette.
This is a not ‘soak’ dessert – the recommendation is to add 250 mls of boiling water, stir for 30 seconds and wait ten minutes. I found the water ratio to be spot-on providing the expected pudding consistency.
The only negative for this meal is that as freeze dried desserts go it’s on the higher end price wise, coming in at AUD $19.99 RRP but having said that I think that it is worth it given it contains ‘real’ fruit and sago.
So what’s the final verdict? I love this dessert and will definitely add it to my meal roster for my upcoming trips. If you are into desserts on-trail then definitely consider this one!
