Real Meals Dulcie's Lasagne Review
This is another of the Real Meals youth range. Size wise this meal in its dried form is 110 grams so it will also suit adults as well. Typically youth meals tend to follow the ‘safe path’ rather than being adventuress.
Taste and texture wise this is what the packet says, a lasagne. Texture wise it felt and tasted like a lasagne to eat. Having said that I found with each bite this meal grew on me more and more. Its a meal that both kids and adults will appreciate.
The sodium level in this meal is 694 mg which is considered on the higher side however the salt wasn’t overpowering and this is from two people who don’t add a lot to their diet. Calorie wise if you eat this as a single serve you get a whopping 707 calorie-hit which is just what you need after a big day hiking.
At AUD $19.99 RRP it sits within the typical freeze dried meal pricing so isn’t overly expensive and given it is real meat, the price is reasonable. It’s also worth noting that this is a high protein meal containing 32.6 grams which sits in the high end of freeze dried meals which is what you need to help regenerate muscles.
Water wise (250 ml), like most other meals from this range we’ve tried provided the desired texture. I left the meal to rehydrate for the recommended 10 minutes and this was also spot on.
I usually talk about negatives at this point but for me there are none; this meal is a good option for hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts and one that will keep hikers happy regardless of their age.
