Wild and uncultivated land. To most people the term wilderness suggests a natural area untouched by humans, being relatively isolated, difficult to access, and having great natural, often primal beauty.
There is also a degree of intangibility to this term as it can evoke an emotional response with many people that cultivated land cannot. For me I find many of the more remote and wild areas in Australia’s alpine region provide some very good examples of this.
Bimberi Wilderness, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. I love this area on the edge of Namadgi National park, it just feels wild!
