Real Meals Moroccan Tagine Review
The front of the packet for the Real Meals Moroccan Tagine says that this meals contains:-
“Chickpeas, pearl couscous and baby carrots, spiced with ginger and turmeric, and a touch of honey for sweetness’
Now I can taste the carrots, just, and I can taste the honey, just, but when I think of tagine I think of ‘spice’. The spice and heat level with this meal is about as bland as it gets. Sodium/salt wise its reasonably low at 230mg/100grams and isn’t really noticeable. Protein wise this meals provides 14grams which is down the lower end of the range for Real Meals.
Water wise the recommendation is to add 300ml of water and the resulting texture is as you would expect for a couscous and chickpea based meal. Having said that this meal, which comes out as 400 grams is very filling and I found it a struggle to finish it off and could easily be shared between two providing you aren’t big eaters.
At AUD $21.99 RRP the Real Meals Moroccan Tagine is towards the higher end of the single serve freeze dried range but it is filling. This meal option isn’t going to be a meal that suits either Gill, nor I being way to bland, but for the average hiker who isn’t into spicy and hot meals this will be a safe and filling option.
